Back up your notes

A backup is a copy of your notes stored in a separate location from the original, which can be used to restore your data in case of loss or corruption. 

It's important to distinguish between a backup and a sync. A backup requires the user to manually create and store their data in a secure location, whether on their device, in the cloud, or external storage location.

If you want to back up your notes just in case the unexpected ever happens? With Nebo it’s easy and can be done in a few simple steps:

Making a backup

  1. Open the notebook side panel.
  2. Select Nebo Settings.
  3. Select Backup
  4. You will have two options: Back up Library and Restore from back up.
  5. Select Back up library. Nebo will display a message indicating "Creating backup...". 
  6. Select where you would like to store your backup file. 
  • Ensure you have a third-party cloud sync application installed. Nebo can send the backup file directly to this cloud service or store in your primary memory device. Opting for a cloud service is recommended. 
  • Nebo will present a menu featuring various apps installed on your device where you can conveniently send the backup file.

Notes:

  • For iOS and Windows users, the backup will be stored on your device as a .nebobackup file.
  • For Android users your backup cannot be stored on your device so you will need to store the backup in a secondary location.
  • It is not possible to save your backup to or restore from a backup using Huawei Drive.
  • When you restore your library from the backup any changes made to your notes since the last backup will be overwritten. For this reason, it is important to make regular backups.
  • Sync and back-up (Android): You have an option on Android platform that will sync the contents of your Nebo library with your cloud account and then create a library back up on your device. You will need to configure a sync account and resolve any syncing conflicts before selecting this.
  • We recommend that you regularly backup your notes in a secure location and it is always advisable that you keep a backup secure on a second device.
  • We do not retain copies or backups of your notes, if you delete the app, there is a risk of losing your valuable notes, and we may be unable to assist without a backup or recent sync.
  • The SSO profile or MyScript account does not serve as a repository for your notes, It is your responsibility to create secure copies of your notes and store them in a safe location.
