A backup is a copy of your notes stored in a separate location from the original, which can be used to restore your data in case of loss or corruption.
It's important to distinguish between a backup and a sync. A backup requires the user to manually create and store their data in a secure location, whether on their device, in the cloud, or in an external storage location.

If you want to back up your notes just in case the unexpected ever happens, Nebo makes it easy and can be done in a few simple steps:
Making a Backup
- Open the Notes Sidebar:
- Apple: Tap the three dots in the top right of the side panel to access the More menu and go to Settings.
- Android: Go to Settings at the bottom of the sidebar.
- Windows: Go to Settings at the bottom left of the side panel.
- Select Backup.
- Choose Backup Option:
- You will have two options: Back up Library and Restore from Backup.
- Create Backup:
- Select Back up Library. Nebo will display a message indicating "Creating backup...".
- Select Storage Location:
- Choose a location for your backup file.
- You can store your backup in a cloud service, locally on your device, or in an external app. It's advisable to use a cloud service in case you lose access to your device. You can choose any cloud platform as a backup destination, not just those supported by Nebo's sync feature.
- We recommend that you regularly back up your notes in a secure location and always keep a backup secure on a second device.
Notes:
- The backup will be stored as a .nebobackup file.
- For Android users: your backup cannot be stored on your device, so you will need to store the backup in a secondary location (for example, Cx File Explorer).
- It is not possible to save your backup to or restore from a backup using Huawei Drive.
- We do not retain copies or backups of your notes. If you delete the app, there is a risk of losing your valuable notes, and we may be unable to assist without a backup or recent sync.
- The SSO profile or MyScript account does not serve as a repository for your notes. It is your responsibility to create secure copies of your notes and store them in a safe location.
- When you restore your library from the backup, any changes made to your notes since the last backup will be overwritten. For this reason, it is important to make regular backups.
