Managing Nebo Updates on Lenovo and Huawei Devices
Lenovo Devices
If Nebo (version 4.0.16) is pre-installed on your Lenovo tablet and you want to update or transition to a newer version (Nebo 5.8 or Nebo 6), follow these steps:
Checking for Updates
Lenovo manages updates for pre-installed apps. If you don’t see an update:
- Visit the Lenovo Support Site to check device eligibility.
- Contact Lenovo Support for update availability.
Getting the Latest Nebo Version
To access the latest features:
- Download the trial version of Nebo 6.X from the Google Play Store (limited to a few pages).
- Purchase Nebo 6.X from the Google Play Store for full access and installation on other Android devices linked to your Google ID.
Backing Up Your Notes
Before updating your OS or switching to a new Nebo version:
- Open Settings in the Nebo side panel.
- Select Backup & Restore, then choose:
- Sync and Backup: Syncs your library to the cloud and creates a backup.
- Backup Only: Creates a local backup (store it externally on Android).
- Ensure you’re signed into a MyScript account under Settings > Account and enable cloud syncing.
Restoring Notes After an Update
After updating your OS or app:
- Open Nebo and sign in to your MyScript account.
- Check your library. If notes are missing, restore them from your backup.
Important Notes on Nebo 6 for Lenovo Devices
- Only Lenovo 2025 models come with Nebo 6 pre-installed.
- Some 2023/2024 Lenovo devices have been updated from Nebo 4.0.16 to 5.8.10 but will not receive Nebo 6.
- Lenovo manages pre-installed app updates; MyScript does not control this process.
Upgrading to Nebo 6.X (Recommended Option)
To always have the latest version and features:
- Purchase Nebo 6.X from the Google Play Store.
- Migrate Your Notes:
- Backup your notes in the pre-installed app.
- Sync with a cloud account.
- Sign out of your cloud account in the pre-installed Nebo app to prevent conflicts.
- Set Up the New App:
- Install Nebo 6.X from the Play Store.
- Sign in to your MyScript and cloud accounts.
- Restore your notes from the cloud or backup file.
- Disable or Uninstall the Pre-installed App after confirming a successful migration.
Huawei Devices
Huawei previously pre-installed Nebo 3 on some Android devices but has since transitioned to Harmony OS, which does not support Google Play Store.
If You Can’t Access Nebo on a Huawei Device:
- Contact Huawei Support at 950800 (Inside China) for assistance.
- Nebo is no longer included on Huawei devices.
- If you can access the Google Play Store, you can purchase Nebo 6 to use the latest version.
Best Syncing Option for Cross-Platform Use
For the best experience across multiple platforms, we recommend using Dropbox for syncing, as it offers better compatibility than Google Drive.
